Welcome to Taava Reindeer Farm in Rovaniemi, open year-round to offer you a genuine connection with reindeer in every season. With our reindeer guides you’ll meet the animals up close, gain insights into reindeer herding and the rhythm of the reindeer year, and experience the calm beauty of Lapland’s forest, right by the flowing Kemijoki river.

Seasonal highlights
- Winter (Dec–April): A short reindeer sleigh ride (approx. 400 m) through the snowy forest. The snow and unique Arctic light make the reindeer farm atmosphere especially memorable.
- Spring, Summer & Autumn (May–Oct): You may take part in easy, light reindeer farm task that reflect the season’s work. The farm is surrounded by green forest or autumn colors, and you can observe the natural rhythm of reindeer life — for example reindeer calves being born, growing antlers and preparations for the coming winter.
Taava is open in every season, giving you the chance to understand reindeer, meet the people who care for them, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Lapland’s nature.

What do I need to bring?
- Warm winter clothing suitable for Arctic conditions (layers recommended) in winter season and during other seasons according to the weather forecast (rain jacket, rubber boots, sun hat, suntan lotion etc)
- Gloves, hat, scarf, and thermal socks to stay comfortable outdoors
- Sturdy winter boots with good grip
- Camera or smartphone for photos with the reindeer
- A curious spirit and readiness to enjoy Lapland traditions
