What our customers are saying about reindeer safaris
Loved it!
Loved the forest path raindeer ride. 2 adults and 1 children cost £100 from the information point in the main office. It was a lovely ride in the forest. Beautiful and quiet. Loved roasting marshmallows outside and the queue wasn’t more than 5 minutes.

A magical winter experience
We both really enjoyed our 3km reindeer ride. We shared a sledge and it was a relaxing 45 minute ride on the snow through the SCV site and adjacent woodlands at a walking pace. Our guide (Mikko) was happy to take our photo at the start and finish of the ride. We also had the opportunity to cook sausages and drink warm berry juice in a private covered area adjacent to the finish. In all, a magical winter experience

A beautiful, child friendly reindeer ride in the woods
We went for the 1000m reindeer sleigh ride and it we all loved it, such a beautiful trail. We arrived at 11:30am and had to queue for 45 minutes for the ride, but worth the wait.

Lappish food in Santa Claus Village
Lapland Restaurant Kotahovi offers traditional, simple Lappish and Finnish food. In our traditional Lappish hut style restaurant, you can enjoy the atmosphere of Lapland with all your senses. An open fire blazes in the middle of the restaurant, and you can see the reindeer of the Santa Claus Reindeer Park from the window.

Visit Mrs. Santa Claus
Mrs. Santa Claus lives in a lovely Christmas Cottage in the middle of the Santa Claus Reindeer Park and looks after Santa’s reindeer. Warm-hearted Mrs. Santa Claus shows her love in many ways. She knits wool socks and bakes gingerbread, always available in her café. If you see her feeding the reindeer, you’ll find that everyone gets lichen, whether they’ve been naughty or nice. Come and meet Mrs. Santa Claus! No entrance fee to the café, see other joyful experiences below and book.
FAQ - Reindeer safaris in Rovaniemi
Do I need special clothing for a reindeer sleigh safari?
No special gear is needed, but dressing warmly is essential. Wear layered winter clothing, including long underwear, a wool mid-layer, winter jacket and trousers, warm socks and boots, mittens or gloves, a beanie, and a scarf. There are reindeer hides in the sleighs for extra warmth, but keeping your head, hands, and feet protected will help you stay comfortable throughout the whole ride.
Can children join the safari?
Absolutely! Our reindeer safaris are family-friendly, and the minimum age is 0, so even the littlest ones can enjoy the ride. Just make sure they are warmly dressed, as children are more sensitive to cold.
Will I see the Northern Lights during the safari?
On the Northern Lights Reindeer Safari, there is a chance to see the Aurora Borealis, but it’s never guaranteed – nature sets the schedule! Regardless, the serene Arctic night sky and snowy landscapes create a magical atmosphere on every evening safari.
Is transportation to the safari site included?
Yes. We offer pick-up and drop-off from several Rovaniemi hotels, including Arctic TreeHouse Hotel, Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara, Santa Claus Holiday Village, Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle, Santa’s Hotel Santa Claus, and Scandic Rovaniemi City.
How long is the sleigh ride?
Each safari includes a ~35-minute-long reindeer sleigh ride through the peaceful Lapland forest. The total duration of your experience depends on the tour – typically between 1 to 3 hours.
What’s included in the safari?
All safaris include the sleigh ride, guiding, snacks like sausages and warm drinks by a campfire, and a visit to the reindeer pen where you can feed the reindeer and learn more about them.
What if I have dietary restrictions for the snacks?
Please let us know in advance if you have dietary restrictions or allergies. We’ll do our best to accommodate your needs around the campfire.
Are the reindeer safaris physically demanding?
Not at all – all experiences are marked as easy and are suitable for all fitness levels. You’ll be comfortably seated in a sleigh, and the pace of the tour is relaxed.
How do I book a safari?
You can book directly on our website by choosing your preferred experience and date. If you have any questions before booking, feel free to contact us!
