The Taava
Experience

Taava is a year-round reindeer farm in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland, where time and attention are an important part of every experience. Guests spend time close to the reindeer, learn from our local reindeer guides and have the opportunity to observe and understand more about reindeer life.

At Taava, there is room for individuality. Our reindeer have different personalities and ways of behaving, our guides bring their experience and personality, and every guest comes with their own interests and questions. The changing seasons and Lappish nature make each day at Taava different.

Time & Attention

Time gives us the possibility to pay attention to what is happening around us. At Taava, there is time to observe the reindeer, listen and talk with our local reindeer guides. Conversations can develop from what guests notice and want to know more about – from reindeer behaviour and reindeer herding to life in Lapland.

Each reindeer experience at Taava has its own programme, while leaving room for questions, observations and genuine conversation.

At Taava Reindeer Farm

Reindeer experiences at Taava Reindeer Farm bring guests close to the reindeer, our local reindeer guides and Lappish nature. Depending on the season and experience, guests may feed and observe the reindeer, travel by reindeer sleigh, take part in seasonal activities or spend time together around the fire.

Many experiences also include a moment in our warm wooden kota. Guests leave their outdoor boots at the door, put on slippers and gather around the fire for a warm drink and something small to eat. It is a natural place for conversation and learning more about reindeer and life in Lapland.

Every Taava experience brings together reindeer, people and Lappish nature. Our reindeer have their individual ways of behaving, and every guest and guide brings their own personality and perspective to the experience.

The peaceful Lappish forest is part of it all, changing with the seasons and Arctic light and giving Taava much of its special atmosphere.

  • This was the highlight of my trip to Lapland. The whole experience felt like a winter fairytale, with stunning landscapes and such a calm atmosphere. The guide Olli was super kind and shared interesting facts about the reindeers while we fed them at the farm. Some reindeers were really rare, including a white one with blue eyes, and they were all incredibly cute. Everything was very relaxed, with food and a cozy place to warm up with some really nice people answering all our questions. Definitely worth it and something I’d definitely recommend doing!

  • We had the most magical experience here! The sleigh ride was the perfect length and so beautiful. We loved hanging out by the fire after for a bit and getting to chat with everyone- the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Feeding the reindeer after was honestly the highlight though, I loved how eager and sweet they were! My kids and I loved every moment. Thank you!

  • The Aurora Reindeer Safari @ Taava Reindeer Farm was the highlight of our trip in Lapland. We leant back in the sleigh, drifting slowly through the forest. The Reindeers were calm and quiet; weather was beautiful; a sea of stars shimmering through the canopy. What a magic moment! Let alone the swirling Northern Light and the professional team. Highly recommended.

  • What a wonderful tour! A sleigh ride, feeding reindeer while being surrounded by them and being fed ourselves with Finnish treats while warming up and wearing slippers. The guides were fabulous - profesional, knowledgeable and fun. We learned a great deal and had a great time.
