About us
Our dear friend Santa Claus hopes that you too will have the chance to meet his reindeer. A brief encounter with a reindeer is good for everyone.
Our family has had reindeer for generations, dating back to the second half of the 19th century. We also have extensive experience in tourism.
Santa’s reindeer herd delights visitors year-round in our reindeer park, located in the heart of Santa Claus Village. We want to share the entire world of reindeer herding with our guests: the cultural traditions, respect for nature, and the nature experiences that come with reindeer work.
A few minutes of reindeer driving, and you’ll see that Santa Claus is right, as always. In the company of reindeer, stress and hurry are forgotten.
Santa Claus Reindeer Ltd. is a family business that includes the Santa Claus Reindeer Park, Mrs. Santa Claus’ Christmas Cottage, and Lapland Restaurant Kotahovi. We have been operating in Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi since 2008.
Developing International and Year-Round Operations “Illi”
Santa Claus Reindeer Ltd is carrying out an EU-funded development project aimed at expanding operations beyond Santa Claus Village and strengthening the company’s international growth. As part of the project, a new wilderness-style activity destination will be developed in the Illi area, located along the Kemijoki River. This area will include Taava Reindeer Farm, a new nature-based experience destination in Rautiosaari. The aim is to build a sustainable foundation for year-round operations and strengthen the company’s position both in domestic and international tourism markets.
Key focus areas of the project include:
– Creating an internationalisation strategy to support growth in new operational areas
– Developing a digital strategy, including tools for marketing and sales
– Designing new product and service concepts for the Illi area, with a focus on snow-free season experiences related to the Kemijoki water element, forest wellbeing, and outdoor food tourism
– Establishing strong business relationships with international travel trade partners through trade fairs and direct outreach
The total approved project cost is €113,961, of which €56,980 is funded by the European Regional Development Fund(50% public support). The project implementation period is 1 February 2025 – 31 January 2027.
